Hiking and Educational Trail at the Hubert Hotel
Discover the beauty of the High Tatras through our hiking and educational trail. The trail passes through the picturesque villages of Gerlachov, Batizovce, Mengusovce, and Štôla, and it suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
During the walk, you can have a rest at spots with information boards providing interesting facts about the local nature and its conservation. The trail is ideal not only for hiking but also for cycling trips.

- Gerlachov: Historical facts and natural attractions.
- Batizovce: Flora and fauna of the region.
- Mengusovce: Traditional local crafts.
- Štôla: Ecological initiatives and nature conservation.
- The Tarta Highway (Tatranská Magistrála):
- One of the most famous trails in the High Tatras. It offers stunning views and connects several main valleys and peaks. A popular section runs from Štrbské Pleso to Hrebienok, passing beautiful lakes and offering panoramic views.
- Ascent to Rysy:
- The trail to Rysy, the highest peak in Poland but accessible from Slovakia, is a must for experienced hikers. Staring from Štrbské Pleso, the climb is challenging, but the breathtaking views from the top are rewarding.
- Skalnaté pleso (Rocky Tarn) to Lomnický štít (Lomnický Peak):
- From Tatranská Lomnica, you can take a cable car to Skalnaté Pleso and continue on foot or by another cable car to Lomnický štít, the second highest peak in the Tatras. The views are spectacular and it's a great way to experience the high mountains without a strenuous climb.
- Popradské pleso (Poprad Tarn) and Symbolic Cemetery:
- This moderate trail starts at Popradské pleso station and leads to the tranquil Poprad lake. Nearby is the Symbolic Cemetery, a memorial for those who perished in the Tatras, set in a peaceful forest environment.
- Slavkovský štít (Slavkovský Peak):
- The climb to one of the main peaks of the Tatras starts in Starý Smokovec. The trail is long and challenging but offers exceptional views of the High Tatras and surrounding regions.
- Veľká Svišťovka (the Great Marmot Hill) and Zelené Pleso (Green Tarn):
- This trail starts from Skalnaté pleso and leads through scenic alpine landscapes to the stunning Zelené pleso. It's a beautiful, moderate hike showcasing the natural beauty of the Tatras.

Geocaching around the Hubert Hotel
We have great news for geocaching enthusiasts! There is a cache located near the Hubert Hotel. Geocaching is a fun outdoor activity where seekers use GPS devices to find hidden containers, known as caches. This adventure combines hiking, navigational skills, and a bit of detective work. Don’t forget to bring a small item for trade and a notebook to log your finding.
The hiking and educational trail Gerlachov - Batizovce - Mengusovce - Štôla begins right next to the Hubert Hotel. It is an ideal walk for experienced, but also less experienced hikers, as well as families with children. Along the way, you will learn many interesting facts about the surrounding nature and its protection. You can sit next to each information board and gather energy to continue hiking. It is possible to ride a bike along the trail as well.
